The Future of Money is Digital:

Hong Kong's Role in China's Payments Transformation

11 February 2020

At the end of 2019, President Xi said the country needs to "seize the opportunity" afforded by blockchain technology which will have a wide array of applications in China. Hong Kong has over the last few years been actively engaged in the opportunities and ongoing development within China, as well as looking to develop its own homegrown tech transformation. For example, over the last year Hong Kong has granted a number of virtual banking licences designed to speed up disruption and innovation in this world financial centre.

This seminar aims to explore what is going on within Hong Kong's tech transformation, what those applications would be for China and how they would come through Hong Kong to China and other world economies as we continue to be challenged by the future of money in a rapidly changing world.

The seminar will also explore China's role in the international monetary framework, how Hong Kong can serve as an intermediary, testing ground and launch pad for companies offering services to the global markets, how crypto-currencies will impact on the global financial model and whether this digital revolution will make us more secure or more vulnerable?

Please join us to hear the invaluable insights from our panel on these fundamental areas of development.
