Predictions for tech, human rights and ESG with Adam Hunter
17 February 2021
Adam Hunter, a Trainee in our Tech Group, articulates his predictions for Tech, #HumanRights and ESG in 2021 in this short video, highlighting that human rights forms part of the social limb of ESG.
Adam's top prediction for 2021 is that we will see more tech platforms and social media apps applying human rights standards to content moderation this year, particularly as several financial investor firms have stated their expectation that content moderation be aligned with human rights. Adam indicates tech companies who pay attention to human rights will develop a competitive advantage and predicts this year we will see them compete to demonstrate that they are the most privacy-centric platform.
Finally, Adam predicts that the Tech for Good movement will drive progress on human rights in 2021, finding solutions to some of the most significant problems in our society. We will see further advances in assistive technology designed to improve the quality of life for those living with disabilities and a growth in availability of telemedicine and Medtech to achieve greater access to healthcare for all. And for companies looking to get involved in Tech For Good, Adam notes there are a broad range of legal considerations that must be taken into account right from the start.
